HISTORY IN THE MAKING #HOTBUTTERSSSSS

Are you watching for Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch the Throne? You know, the mega-album that was supposedly coming out on the 4th of July until that got debunked, and that’s been supposedly coming out ever since “H.A.M.” It’s OK. We figure you might have had plans yesterday that didn’t include refreshing Jay and Kanye’s respective sites.

But now! Jay-Z’s site Life and Times just put up the “Watch the Throne” art in thumbnails, surrounded by a lot of thumbnails that are not the throne. (Jay wished you a happy Fourth on the first and you didn’t even notice! Also, he hired some guy to write about Staunton chess pieces, probably because the set is quite expensive.) People who don’t like fun multimedia tricks — mouse over that cover! Watch the squares subside! It’s a fun way to spend a minute! — can go to Kanye West’s site, which is basically a Tumblr or something, or Island Def Jam, which is basically a landing page.

Anyway, this is the art. It’s very gold. It’s very couture gold, being digitally sculpted by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci. It’s very “fuck you, we don’t even need to put our names on this cover.” If anything has both the name recognition and the delayed-event status to pull that off, though, Watch the Throne would be it.

Here’s what else we know: the Deluxe CD costs $16.99, and the regular costs $13.99. Deduct $2 from either price if you’re one of those mp3-buying kids. Swizz Beatz, No ID and Lex Luger (see “H.A.M.”) are listed as producers as well as Jay-Z and Kanye, and Beyonce and Bruno Mars are listed as guest vocalists on a track called “Lift Off.” The Hollywood Reporter mentions a few other tracks: “Murder to Excellence,” “Illest Motherf—er Alive” and “Living So Italian.” And we’ll be lucky to hear any of them by the end of the year

1.Lift Off (Feat. Beyonce & Bruno Mars)
2. Murder To Excellence
3. Illest Motherfucker Alive
4. Why I Love You So (Guilt Trip)
5. That Shit Crazy
6. Living So Italian
7. Who Gonna Stop Me
8. Whole Lifetime
9. We Are Young
10. Anthem
