Jamie Foxx has been cast in the lead role for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained.

The drama focuses on a Mississippi slave plantation where female slaves are exploited and male slaves are pitted against each other in death matches. Django, a freed slave, must reclaim his wife from the plantation. Foxx was among the top contenders for the role of Django, and today it was confirmed that he has entered into negotiations for the part.

Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz will play Dr. Schultz, the German bounty hunter who teaches Django the tricks of the trade. Leonardo DiCaprio has been cast as Calvin Candie, the plantation owner. Also set to star is Samuel L. Jackson as Stephen, Candie's valet and enforcer.
